It’s right and proper that when dealing with any company, you know exactly what to expect at the outset.
Please read carefully, particularly conditions 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, and 10.0.
By starting your driving lessons, you accept the terms and conditions laid out below. These form part of a contract between the “pupil” and Pro Coach Driving School, hereinafter known as “the instructor.”
1.0 Driving Lessons and Payment
Under our terms and conditions, the Instructor will provide driving lessons for the pupil at the agreed rates and times.
- All lessons are delivered on a one-to-one basis.
- Costs will be outlined before tuition commences.
- Payment: Bank Transfer 48 hours before booked training or test.
2.0 Physical Contact
The instructor will avoid physical contact with a pupil except:
- In the normal course of greeting.
- In an emergency where use of the car’s controls is required to prevent an accident, damage, or an offence (e.g., steering correction to avoid collision).
3.0 Instructor’s Discretion
The instructor may decide, at their discretion, against giving tuition. However, they will not act in any manner that contravenes:
- Legislation on discrimination.
- The DVSA Code of Practice for Approved Driving Instructors.
4.0 Alcohol or Drugs
Any pupil may be refused a driving lesson if the instructor believes the pupil is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- The lesson will still be charged at the full amount.
5.0 Postponement of Lessons
Pre-booked lessons are made on the understanding that the instructor is not responsible for postponement due to:
- Adverse weather.
- Traffic conditions.
- Illness or unforeseen mechanical breakdown.
The instructor cannot be held responsible for any consequential loss incurred as a result of cancellation or postponement.
However, the instructor’s fee will not be payable in these circumstances.
6.0 Cancellation Policy
- If the instructor needs to cancel a lesson, 48 hours’ notice will be given.
- If a pupil needs to cancel, 24 hours’ notice is required.
- Otherwise, the full fee becomes payable.
7.0 Missed or Late Appointments
- If a pupil fails to attend a pre-booked appointment, the full fee is payable.
- If late, the instructor will wait 15 minutes at the agreed meeting place, then leave.
- Pupils arriving within the grace period will have time deducted from their lesson but will be charged the normal fee.
8.0 Termination of Lessons
The instructor may terminate a course of driving lessons without notice if continuing to teach is not in the best interests of either party.
9.0 Appropriate Clothing
A pupil may be refused entry into the driving school vehicle if clothing or footwear is clearly inappropriate.
10.0 Driving Test Requirements
- The instructor will advise pupils when they are ready to apply for their practical driving test.
- Pupils must provide the required documentation to the DVSA.
- Pupils cannot book a driving test using the school vehicle without passing a mock test with the instructor.
- The instructor’s opinion is final.
- Pupils may book a test at any time using their own vehicle.

11.0 Use of School Vehicle for Test
If a pupil fails to attend a satisfactory number of lessons or is deemed unsafe for the test, the instructor reserves the right to refuse use of the school’s vehicle.
- The instructor will not be liable for any loss of test fees.

12.0 Insurance
Provided the pupil holds a valid driving license and is accompanied by Mark Lanario or a DVSA-approved instructor/examiner, the school cars are fully insured for tuition and driving tests.
13.0 Driving Entitlement
The instructor will check a pupil’s entitlement to drive at the outset and on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to read a number plate at 20.5 meters will also be checked.
14.0 Responsibility for Offences
While the instructor will train you to the highest standard, you are responsible for any offences committed while driving the school’s vehicles.
15.0 Medication
Pupils must advise the instructor of any medication that may affect their ability to drive safely before lessons commence.
16.0 Glasses or Contact Lenses
If a pupil is required to wear glasses or contact lenses and fails to do so, the lesson will be cancelled with full charge.
17.0 Booking Tests
Pupils can book a test in their own vehicle at any time.
- If using the school car, a mock test must be passed before booking.
18.0 Vehicle Condition on Test Day
On the day of your driving test, the instructor will ensure the car meets DVSA standards.
This situation is beyond the instructor’s control, and no compensation for consequential loss becomes payable.
However, if a warning light or bulb failure occurs immediately before the test, the DVSA examiner will cancel the test and the fee will be forfeited.
