Welcome to the “Our Services” Page
This is designed to give an overview of the main types of lessons and driver training that Pro Coach Driving School provides to customers in the Bexhill and Battle area of East Sussex.
You can drop down from this tab into the specific pages which cover the service that most interests you.
Refresher Lessons
Our services include refresher driving lessons to full UK driving licence holders of any age or ability. Whether you have been driving for 40 years, or have just passed your Driving Test, we can put a course together to satisfy your requirements. You may have been involved in a collision, which has knocked your confidence, or are thinking of changing from driving a manual car, to an automatic- we can help.
In addition our services include experienced Driver Assessments are also available and carried out by our Advanced Driving qualified, Approved Driving Instructor.
Automatic Lessons
Pro Coach Driving School is a specialist in teaching people to drive automatic cars. Learners, those already driving an auto, or wishing to switch- all are welcome.
The school car is a Hyundai i10 auto, which is ideal for the job.
It’s small, easy to manoeuvre and has some very useful features, like hill start assist.
It also has good around vision, with plenty of glass and narrow pillars.
Those of you that have your own automatic car, that would like to take a refresher course, this can be done in your vehicle.
If you haven’t driven for a while and feel uncomfortable with this idea, we can start in the school car, get you confident, then switch to your car.
Advanced Driving
As part of our services, we offer Advanced Driving courses to any full Driving License holder, and particularly those people that are looking to pass one of the Advanced Driving tests offered by charities such as the Institute of Advanced Motorists ( IAM) or The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
Although training will be offered by the various groups, we receive a lot of enquiries from candidates looking for an intensive boost before their test. Our Instructor has been an Observer with the IAM and holds a RoSPA Diploma.
In addition, we can train drivers that are looking to pass the Driving Instructors Association Diamond Advanced Test. This is marked on the same basis as the Part 2 Test for potential Driving Instructors ( PDIs), so is often used as a ” dummy run”.
Mock Tests
As part of our services, mock tests are offered to learner drivers that are looking to take a test in their own vehicle. Some of our customers have taken no professional training or have stopped taking lessons with a Driving Instructor, preferring to use their own car.
Others learner drivers that approach our driving school are using a Driving Instructor, but request a mock test with us to make it more realistic. We can carry these out in a customers car, manual or automatic.
Case Studies
Case Study A
We were approached by Mark who was looking for a couple of Advanced Driving course sessions.
He was with an IAM ( Institute of Advanced Motorists) group and was looking to pass with a F1RST ( First).
Mark had done several “runs” as the IAM call them, but had concerns that his Observer was new to the role.
He came to our base at Bexhill-on Sea.
We discussed his goals and went out on an assessment drive, using a variety of roads.
Skills and knowledge gaps were quickly identified and interventions agreed.
We also pointed Mark to some important reference materials, including the latest IAM Observers guide, which he found very useful.
His IAM test is now booked and we are confident of the outcome that he is looking for first time around.
Mark is looking to come back to us for some further training in Defensive Driving.
Case Study B
June found us on ” Google” using a local search for Bexhill-on -Sea.
On the telephone, she told us that her manual test had been passed in London a few years back. She went on to tell us that driving a manual was not really for her and she had not driven since her test.
June went on to say that it was her intention to purchase an automatic vehicle very soon, so she wanted to take a conversion course. In addition she told us that her other concerns were rural roads, night driving and adverse weather.
We met up shortly afterwards and, agreed some initial goals.
Once June was able to operate the automatic car, we moved on to some nursery routes to build her confidence.
We discovered some other issues as well.
It was noticed that she tended to drive too close to nearside obstructions. Our Instructor instinctively said ” have you ever lived abroad” to which she replied with surprise in her voice ” yes, I lived in Germany until i was 18 years old”.
This is a common cause of an issue involving difficulty with proximity to NS obstructions, but i think that June was impressed that we picked up on it.
Of course, we gave her a fix.
Half way through her course, she took delivery of a very high spec new Toyota, so we switched over to this as soon as we could.
June is now out on the road, and confident, however came back to us last week for an hour on parking under pressure.
