DVSA- Driving Test Update
Yesterday, the 19th November 2025, the DVSA announced changes to the UK Driving Test. They are the people that set the UK Driving Test. These changes will come into effect from the 24th November 2025.
Unfortunately, those of you that have been training to pass the pre-24th November test have little time. You need to adapt to the changes quickly. This could see you on road types that you are not familiar with at all.
Of course, if you are taking a Driving Test, you should be ready to drive safely. You must be prepared for any road in the UK.
Sure, but when you are driving on your own, it won’t be under test conditions.
We have included a link to the Despatch Blog for Driver and Rider Trainers. You can read it directly from the source……….so to speak.
The most significant change appears to be:
- allowing the flexibility to the independent driving segment (this can be following a sat nav, traffic signs or both) to run for the full duration of the test, allowing more focus on higher speed roads
As often seen from DVSA, communications are not that great and often open to interpretation.
Initially, the communication was unclear. It seemed to suggest that the examiner had the discretion to dispense with a reverse manoeuvre. This was during the Independent Driving Section, which could run non-stop for the full test.
This has now been clarified-maneoeuvres will still be part of the test.
Changes to the Driving Test – There are many roads with National Speed limits in the Bexhill area. If you live here, the examiner can use these roads on your test.
Be ready, ask your instructor
